Geert Wilders, Bigotry and Human Conflict

Notes from a Patsak (before the release of Wilder’s film):

Geert Wilders is just a noisy bigot whose pastey face barely escapes his neck. Why would anyone take him seriously? Regardless of the controversy, we must remember that bigotry and conflict only serve those who oppose the transparency and self-examination that is generally demanded of government and politics in times of peace and progress.

Relevant to this discussion is an interesting video from moby that you may have not have understood.

Now, here’s the hints: the old dude is Uncle Sam, the chicken factory is the Middle East, the factory workers represent Masad and CIA operatives, the store is Europe and the store employee is an Asian immigrant. The chicken (protagonist) represents Hamas, the slaughtered chickens are Palestinians, and Uncle Sam’s body guard, obviously, Homeland and FBI. Democracy and freedom are represented by the female vocalist. The knife used to kill Uncle Sam is a metaphor for Israeli lobbyists and the Media. And the barbeque sauce is sweet crude.

The babes and cash are what they are, babes and cash. This is what it’s all about. The bottomline, baby!

Avoiding self-examination

In a post cold war world era where there are no great enemies, only great economic, social and political challenges to be solved by both educated voters and modest, self-less public servants… there is an increasing temptation to exploit prejudice and find demons in the Islamic world, in the West or in the East- everywhere else but home. War, conflicts and bigotry serve other, more sinister interests.

Bigotry and conflict only serve those who oppose the transparency and self-examination that is generally demanded of government and politics in times of peace and progress.

Geert Wilders may be just another pawn of Meir Dagan and, perhaps, Wilders is a crack head whoring for the next fix. How this suspected massad-puppet can have any kind of meaningful impact on the greater relationship between the Muslim and non-muslim world is absurd and unfortunate. The Dutch troublemaker also happens to be a non-significant member of the Dutch House of Representatives. As a politician, he is described as a populist, individualist, and an outspoken critic of muslims.

But if we can get real, Wilders is just a noisy bigot whose pastey face barely escapes his neck. Why would anyone take him seriously?

Geert Wilders

Wilders has a libertarian and authoritarian flair, favoring lower taxes, less welfare programs, higher speed limits on the highways, and less state regulations. He also favors restricted immigration for non-Westerners and stripping criminals with dual nationality of their Dutch citizenship and deporting them to their country of origin.

But the big problem is that this bigot has a beef with muslims and the Koran- and he can’t keep his mouth shut. Or, perhaps, he is well paid to be irascible and outspoken.

In support of free speech, as Wilders explains it, he posted scandalous political cartoons on his website. The controversial Muhammad cartoons of Danish cartoonist, Jyllands-Posten ,were considered offensive by the Muslim community. Wilders posting occurred at an opportune moment and he was able to capture more celebrity as the issue was generating a lot of attention, anger and misunderstanding. However, Wilders didn’t just a little more popularity, he has been getting death threats too.

Wilders v. Koran

Last year, in a letter published in De Volkskrant, Wilders argues that the Koran, like Hitler’s Mein Kampf, should be banned in the Netherlands. Writes Wilders, “The book incites hatred and killing and therefore has no place in our legal order.”

Recently, Wilders announced that his film, Fitna (discord), is finished and he plans to broadcast it on television. The film is described as an expose on the violence inspired by the Koran. Many Dutch fear the consequences to such a broadcast. The general Dutch opinion is that Wilders is irresponsible in his insistence on exercising free speech in a manner that puts at risk the safety of citizens in the Netherlands, the safety of Dutch citizens and soldiers abroad, and strength of the Dutch economy. However, the Dutch feel they cannot silence Wilders due to the pre-eminence of an individual’s right to free speech.

Uninspiring Reactions

Recently, hundreds of Afghans took to the streets in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif to protest against Wilder’s film. They burned Dutch flags, called for the withdrawal of Dutch troops from the Nato force, and the withdrawal of the Dutch and Danish embassies. Promised to be released in March by Wilders, he describes the film as revealing how the Koran is “an inspiration for intolerance, murder and terror.”

Although European and Nato leaders express deep concern regarding the the potential for violent reactions from the Muslim world to Wilder’s short movie, European leaders don’t seem to be rushing forward to condemn Wilders as a political ambulance chaser that represents nothing more than a tiny, unheard and insignificant voice in the European community. No one is decrying him as a bigot: not European politicians and not European Press. Perhaps, European leaders and NATO find this political ambulance chaser instrumental to their own aspirations for conflict. If so, their cool betrays them.

Said Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, NATO’s Secretary General, in a television interview: “If the troops find themselves in the line of fire because of the film, then I am worried about it and I am expressing that concern.”

Huh? What?!

Meanwhile, rumors have it that Al Qaeda has ordered Wilders assassination. As if assassination will demonstrate anything other than the same contentious, violent and fanatical stereotypes already in the Western mind. Perhaps, some one needs to get Al Qaeda leaders an Idiot’s Guide to Political Correctness and Public Relations for Psychotic Schizophrenics. As I observed many years ago, the Muslim-world lacks PR skills and, unfortunately, they are too niggardly to buy them.

Maybe, it’s more fun to hate than pursue diplomacy, but there is nothing Islamic, spiritual or enlightened about their own anti-West bigotry.

On Tuesday, 300 or so Pakistani students rallied at a university in the city of Multan. They carryied banners denouncing Denmark, the United States and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. Umer Abbasi, a leader of the protest, urged all Muslim countries to follow Pakistan in blocking offensive material on the Internet- especially content related to Geert Wilders.

“If you look deeply, America can be seen behind all anti-Muslim moves around the world,” Abbasi told the crowd, who later burned Danish and American flags.

Excuse me?! What does America have to do with this? Abassi is obvious a fucktard who is likely to be just another unwitting Massad pawn. Imagine Umer’s uncle, a long time Massad agent, giving him two hundred dollars (irony, huh!) to speak his conscience and burn the Danish and American flags. And how do you think Umer got an American and Danish flag?! Duuuh.

Apparently, the number of big mouth, hot head bigots on the Muslim side of this non-sense outnumber outspoken Danes and Dutch. Still, it’s not too late for peaceful Muslims to speak out against the knee jerk reactions of the dark side of the Muslim community, the evil death threats, and the sinister assassination plans on Wilders.

Next Steps

………………………………………………

………………………………………………

It is not too late for Muslims to show the world, serenely beautiful Islamic faces that shine with the light of God’s wisdom, patience and even a cold, rational sympathy for those of us in the West who must suffer fools in our midst for the sake of hard-won human rights such as freedom of speech.

It will not be easy for Muslims who take great pride in their worldwide community. It will not be easy because they will feel empathy for the brothers and sisters who must face adversity in the Western world. In fact, it will not be easy for the ignorant, uneducated and bigoted minority of the greater Muslim community to overcome its own anti-West bigotry.

It will not be easy because some Islamic leaders will attempt to manipulate the less educated minority of the greater Muslim community for their own advantage. These bigoted leaders will fuel anti-West fury that makes disadvantaged Muslim populations blind to the injustices, inequalities, prejudices and tyranny under which they, themselves suffer.

Poverty, lack of education, lack of opportunity, and lack of civil rights in the Muslim world are just the tip of the iceberg.

Below, 2006 Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunnus speaks of the memories of starvation and poverty that motivated him in his work to free people from the cycle of poverty.

Muslims and non-Muslims alike must remember that on either side of the fence, bigotry and conflict serve those who oppose the transparency and self-examination that is generally demanded of government and politics in times of peace and progress…
